ABC 33/40 Meteorologist James Spann Visits Westhills Elementary

BESSEMER, Ala. — Students at Westhills Elementary received a firsthand lesson in atmospheric science as James Spann, chief meteorologist for the Alabama Weather Network and ABC 33/40, visited the campus.

Known across the state for his specialized weather coverage, Spann met with the Westhills Cubs to discuss the science behind Alabama’s unique weather patterns. The visit provided an interactive opportunity for students to learn about meteorology from one of the most recognizable figures in Birmingham broadcasting.

The presentation included insights into storm safety, the technology used to track severe weather, and the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the field of meteorology. Spann’s visit is part of his ongoing efforts to engage with local schools and inspire the next generation of weather enthusiasts.
