Westhills Elementary Cubs Shine at PBIS Glow Party Celebration

BESSEMER, Ala. — Westhills Elementary School students traded traditional classroom lighting for neon hues during the school’s PBIS Glow Party, a celebration of positive behavioral choices.

The event served as a reward for students who consistently demonstrated the school’s "ROAR" principles: respect, ownership, accountability and responsibility. These core values are part of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, which encourages a proactive approach to student character and school culture.

The celebration was made possible through the contributions of local community partners. Bessemer City Council District 5 Councilor Teco Stephens donated pizza for the event, while Rise Up Ministries 60:1 provided a variety of drinks and snacks.

“Your continued support helps us create meaningful and memorable experiences for our Cubs,” school officials said in a statement of gratitude to the donors.

The glow-themed party allowed students to celebrate their hard work through music and social interaction in a vibrant, high-energy environment. Administrators noted that such incentives are vital to maintaining high standards of conduct and fostering a sense of pride among the student body.

By recognizing those who "showed up ready to shine," Westhills Elementary continues to reinforce the importance of its ROAR values, ensuring that academic success is paired with strong personal character.
